Victoria 1st birthday was a memorable day. (Yes, i know...im a month late on these pictures. Go Elvia, right?) The sun decided to show, grilled burgers and hot dogs filled the air, you could hear the laughter of kids as candy fell out of a piƱata and the cutest baby was wearing a tutu as big as her. Sundays are for family and having a birthday cookout for your 1 year old niece was just the icing to the cake. I still cant believe this little one is a year old already. She sure was a character walking around, showing her tutu off and looking confused as we sang happy birthday to her. These special moments, these unforgettable memories are the ones that you cant put a price on. They're the moments where you'll look back on 20 years later and laugh at how funny and silly you're family is. But then realize that without them...you'd be absolutely lost. I cant wait to have more days like this.
Elvs has something to say...

On A Hiatus
I know, i know. I've been on a hiatus from writing this past week and i am soooooo sorry. But i am alive and well (in case you were wondering...which i hope you were!). Just have a lot going on. A lot of changes. Meeting new people. Trying new things. Setting new goals. But its been a fun ride. Hopefully soon i can find time to just lay out in the grass and breathe easy.
I'll be getting back to my DIY's, cooking new plates, taking pictures with my Holga again and i have a bunch of photos of Victoria that im just bursting to share with you all. Who doesnt like pictures of cute babies? Im a big fan.

A Chocolate-Chip-Banana-Pancakes Kinda Saturday
Saturday morning i woke up to the sound of raindrops hitting my window. I dont know about you but whenever it rains, i think of this song and i immediately get up from bed and start making breakfast. Every. Single. Time. Saturday was gloomy and the sun had no intention of coming out...so i decided to bring out the sun in the kitchen (and in my belly!) and make chocolate chip banana pancakes. And my oh my...was i happy that i did! The house smelled of bananas and maple syrup, Oreo was at my feet the entire time just waiting for a chocolate chip to fall and it was a long weekend. Good way to start a Saturday morning, dontcha think?!

Something Funny Happened
Something funny happened today. You suddenly popped in my head and i automatically smiled. I dont know what it was, what made me think of you...but i do know how that smile got there. I thought of when i can see you staring at me from the corner of my eye, yet you still keep gazing at me. I thought of when we hold hands in your truck and how you rub your thumb on my knuckles. I thought of the cheesy smile you have on your face right before you give me a hug. I thought of how you answer, "Hi baby!" to my phone call. I thought of your good morning texts. I thought of all our pizza dates we've had thus far. I thought of those long forehead kisses you surprise me with. I thought of all the unique nicknames you give me.
Then i smiled some more because you actually exist. And this is not a dream.
This may be random, i know. But i just wanted to tell you this funny thing that happened to me today.

Free Comic Book Day
Last week was a first for Wally and me. The first Saturday of May was world-wide Free Comic Book Day, so Wally made it pretty clear to me that we HAD to participate in this event. And so we did. We hit up an independent comic and collectible shop, That's Entertainment and we had a pretty interesting day. Turns out that Free Comic Book Day is actually pretty neat! They had a handlful of comic artists stop by and sign autographs and create quick sketches for kids and you could get up to 5 free comic books (my godsons jaw literally dropped to the floor...and basically stayed that way the entire time). While Wally picked out which comic books he wanted, i surfed through some vinyls and appreciated all the Star Wars collectibles they had. Even though the line was a bit longer than what i had expected, i would do it all over again with him. Just to see his face brighten with such happiness when they handed him 5 free comic books and when he saw all the artists, absolutely to die for. It was followed by a fist pump and a "yesss!" These small moments are what matter to me. So that he has memories to hang on to when life goes on. At the end of the day, the long lines, the 30 minute or more waits, the crowded aisles...it was all worth it. It was all worth spending time with the coolest 10 year old i know on this planet. And plus, it was National Star Wars Day too...so we just had to spend it at a comic store. Duh.

Wasting Your Life
Watched this amazing sermon today about the personal indifference in the world by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. Its called "Wasting Your Life" and its one of his most recognized videos/audio cd's. It left me speechless and pensive. Incredible how even though this was back around the 1950's, you can still relate to it in todays world. So i just HAVE to share this with you all. Here are some of my favorite quotes that caught my attention...
- "Believe in the impossible, and you can do the incredible."
- "If your faith is strong enough, you can do wonders."
- "The reason we're bored is because we dont love anything."
- "When we save certain things to ourselves, we spoil them."
- "When we save knowledge and not use it to train others, it turns into pride."
- "In order to be happy, we have to do more."
- "Be generous with yourself, because then you will be a real Christian."

Fenway
The last time i went to Fenway was about 4 years ago, on my birthday and it was my first time there. I went back last night...and it felt like i was visiting for the first time all over again. Weather was perfect, people were cheery, the (overpriced) pizza and hot dogs were delicious and the atmosphere all around just made you smile. Hearing all the bostonian accents made me feel like i was at the right place, at the right time. Not to mention i was with good company. Actually, no. Great company.
Nights like these, where you sit back, enjoy a past time sport, do the wave and are surrounded by people who bring out the best in you...well, they're just simply wonderful. I cant wait to do it all over again.
Oh Fenway, you sure are beautiful at night.
